Biographical data 

'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang and zhang lHa bzang defeated rGya, Drug, lJang and other kings of the borders (China, Turks and Nanzhao, ms. ITJ 0751 l. 36v1-36v3, 40r1).

In the land of dByar mo thang, at De ga g.yu tshal, 'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang and zhang lHa bzang built a gtsug lag khang (ms. ITJ 0751 l. 41v1-41v2)

The bde blon zhang ['Bro] Khri sum rje [stag snang] seems to have been a disciple of the Chinese master Man Hva shang (ms. PT 996 1v7-2r1). 

Before Man Hva shang returned to China, he was invited by the bde blon zhang Khri sum rje (ms. PT 996 1v7-2r1).

'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang asked Man Hva shang to name a student able to show the path of the dharma and the Chinese master chose Tshig tsha Nam ka snying po (ms. PT 996 2r 1-3). 

'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang became blon che (Great Minister) after dBa' Mang rje lha lod (ms. PT 1287 l. 116) [sometime after 821/822 since he does not bear this title on the peace treaty inscription (inscr. Peace treaty l. n10)]. 

After 'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang, dBa's rGyal to re stag snya became blon che (ms. PT 1287 l. 116-117).

Notes 

According to Chinese sources Shang Qixiner (i. e. ['Bro] zhang Khri sum rje [stag snang]) was a son of Shang Zanmo (zhang bTsan ba ?) and a grandson of Shang Jilizang ('Bro zhang Khri bzang ? see Demiéville 1987 ed. p. 290).

According to mKhas pa lDe'u (XIIIth c.) Khri gtsug lde brtsan Ral pa can's ministers were sBas Mang rje lha lod (i. e. dBa' Mang rje lha lod), 'Bring Khri sum rje stag snang (i. e. 'Bro Khri sum rje stag snang) and Bran ka dPal gyi yon tan (mKhas pa lDe'u 2010 ed. p. 340).
