sPug Ye shes dbyangs took monastic vows in the the time of the rgyal po myes [Khri lDe gtsug brtsan or Khri Srong lde brtsan ?] (ms. PT 996 l. 3v6).
sPug Ye shes dbyangs was the author of the mDo sde brgyad bcu'i khungs (ms. PT 996 l. 4r2-5r3, text identified to the Dunhuang ms. PT 818 and the rNal 'byor chen po bsgom pa'i don, see Imaeda 1975 p. 136-138, Tauscher 2007 p. 83-84 among others).
sPug Ye shes dbyangs died at the age of 80, in Horse year (826, 838, 850, 862 ?), in Tshig tsa (?) Nam kha'i snying po's hermitage at Khri ga mong yog mda' (ms. PT 996 l. 5r3-5r4).

An identification of sPug Ye shes dbyangs to the "Gor Ye shes dbyangs" of the lDan ma brag inscriptions (inscr. lDan ma brag 2 l. 9, lDan ma brag 3 l. 1) and the "dge slong lo chen Ye shes dbyangs" named on a tablet held at the 'Bis rnam snang temple of 'Bis khog (inscr. 'Bis khog 2 l. 3-4) has been suggested (see among others Richardson 1997 p. 366-369, Horlemann 2012 p. 116...).
