According to later chronicles, jo mo bTsan mo 'phan was a consort of btsan po 'U 'i dum brtan and a rival of his other queen, the mother of Yum brtan. Jo mo bTsan mo 'phan most likely belonged to the Tshes pong family ("Tshes spong bza'" in Nyang nyi ma 'od zer 2010 ed. p. 413, "Tshe spong bza' g.Yor mo yum chen btsan mo 'phan" lDe'u jo sras 1987 ed. p. 141, "Tshe spong bza' btsan mo 'phan" in dPa' bo gtsug lag 2003 ed. p. 430... see
