Slon mtshan's mother was 'Ol god za (lady) sTong tsun 'bro ga (ms. PT 1286 l. 61).
Slon mtshan's younger brother (gcung) was Slon kol (ms. PT 1287 l. 179).
After sTag bu snya gzig's death, Slon mtshan and Slon kol received allegiance from Myang Tse[ng] ku, dBa's dByi tshab, dBa's Myes snang, dBa's Pu tshab, mNon 'Dron po and Tshes pong Nag seng (ms. PT 1287 l. 173-174).

According to dPa' bo gtsug lag 'phreng ba (mKhas pa'i dga' ston 2003ed., p. 171-172), during the reign of gNam ri, sBrang dGa' bo and rMu dPung ri, killed the enraged (smyon pa) wild yak called g.Yag thal ka ru ring and discovered a salt deposit in the north - the meat they attached on their saddle tasted salty after falling to the ground ("sbrang dga' bo dang rmu dpung ri bya ba'i gyad gnyis kyis zhabs tog byas te phung g.yag thal ka ru ring bya ba'i byang 'brong smyon pa gsad nas sha rta sga la btags pa lhung ba la tshva 'gos pa'i bro ba tshor bas lan tshva ngo shes te byang gi tshva len pa'i srol byung skad /").
According to the bKa' chems ka khol ma (1991 ed. p. 100), when the prince (Srong btsan sgam po) was four years old, gNam ri srong btsan died after eating the poisoned meat of a yak killed by Khyung po sPa ta spu te and sPu khyung ring po. gNam ri's horse, rTa cang shes rma bya kyungs, also died from bloating ("rgyal bu lo bzhi lon pa'i dus su yab rgyal pos byang du pho brang mdzad nas / rta cang shes rma bya kyungs bya ba de chibs nas khyung po spa ta spu te dang / spu khyung ring po dang 'grogs te byang 'dam pa rgyab tu byon nas khyung po spa ta spu te dang spu khyung ring pos g.yag bsad nas rgyal pos g.yag sha gsol bas sha dug gis grongs / rta yang sbos nas shi /").
