Biographical data 

Long la dag (a local chieftain from Nanzhao ?) rejected Chinese suzerainty and became a loyal (glo ba nyes) to the btsan po lha sras (Khri Srong lde brtsan ?), he paid homage to blon sKyes bzang (insc. Lijiang l. 3, see Takata 2006). 

In Monkey year [756], sKyes bzang rgyal kong gathered the summer assembly at Glagi bu chung and the winter assembly at Skyi'i phyi tshal with rGyal ta khri gong (ms. Or 8212.187 l. 18-20). 

sKyes bzang rgyal kong died in the summer of Bird year [757], after being requested to become 'og dpon of the blon che (Great Minister) [dBa's sNang bzher zla brtsan ?] (ms. Or 8212.187 l. 25-26 see also Dotson 2009 p. 139).

Blon sKyes bzang rgyal kong is most likely to be identified to the Cog ro minister mentioned by later Tibetan historians in the early part of Khri Srong lde btsan's reign : 

- Cog ro sKyes bzang rgyal gong in dBa' bzhed (2010ed. p. 7, 9 transl. in Wangdu, Diemberger, Sørensen 2000 p. 35, 37), gCo re sKyes bzang rgyal gong in rBa bzhed (2010 ed. 265) 

- Thog ro sGyes gza' rgyal 'gong according to lDe'u jo sras (1987ed. p. 121), 

- lCog ro sKyes bza' rgyal gong according to mKhas pa lDe'u (2010 ed. p. 285), 

- Cog ro sKyes za rgyal 'gong according to bKa' thang sde lnga (2011ed. p. 378), see also "sKyes bzang rgyal ma 'og", one of the three Cog ro ministers with Legs sgra lha ldong and Cog ro Bo gong (bKa' thang sde lnga 2011ed. p. 338).

According to mKhas pa lDe'u Cog ro sKyes gza' rgyal 'gong erected the temple of mKhar stod gnam ru gong (2010ed. p. 282, see also Ne'u Pandita 2005ed. p. 29 : lCog ro sKya zang rgyal po built the temple of Khor stod gnam ri).

The dBa' bzhed states that Cog ro sKyes bzang rgyal gong died after his tongue and legs got completely dried (or emaciated ? skams, see dBa' bzhed p. 9, transl. in Wangdu, Diemberger, Sørensen 2000 p. 37, also in rBa bzhed 2010 ed. p. 265). 

According to the sBa bzhed lCog ro skyes bzang rgyal gong became paralysed (? lag ril) from the mouth (lce dang rkan "tongue and palate") and the legs and died ("lcog ro skyes bzang rgyal gong ni lce dang rkan dang rkang lag ril gu gu thul tu song nas gum" in sBa bzhed 2010ed. p. 69).
